Clint Trickett is heading to West Virginia.

The Florida State quarterback announced two weeks ago that he would be transferring from Tallahassee. And, after considering a number of schools, Trickett made his decision official on Wednesday morning.

Trickett is from Florida, but his father -- Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett -- is from Morgantown, W.Va., and began his coaching career there with the Mountaineers.

Trickett will be eligible to play for the Mountaineers in 2013 and will have a chance to replace the recently departed Geno Smith.

During his three seasons at Florida State, Trickett served as a backup to Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel, completing 66 of his 106 passes for 947 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions. His departure now leaves three quarterbacks competing for the starting job with the Seminoles, including redshirt freshman standout Jameis Winston.

Trickett also visited Auburn and South Florida before deciding on West Virginia.
