Boise State sophomore defensive end Sam Ukwuachu has been dismissed from the Boise State program, the Idaho Statesman reported on Tuesday. No reason was given for the dismissal.

The 6-foot-4, 222-pound Ukwuachu was a freshman All-American for the Broncos in 2012, starting 12 games and notching seven tackles for loss and 4 1/2 sacks.

Losing Ukwuachu coud be tough for Boise State's defensive line to overcome. Junior Demarcus Lawrence returns as a starter at one end, but the likely replacements for Ukwuachu's spot include injury-prone senior Kharyee Marshall little-used junior Beau Martin and redshirt freshmen Darien Barrett and Sam McCaskill.

The Broncos defense has finished in the top 25 of the total defense rankings each of the past six seasons so, if history is any guide, Boise State will be just fine.
