ACC college football fans got a little more catnip on Thursday, thanks to the league releasing an early season television schedule.

North Carolina and Wake Forest kick off the ACC schedule on Aug. 29, with the Tar Heels traveling to Columbia to face South Carolina in a nationally televised season opener on ESPN. The league's opening weekend continues with highlights such as Virginia Tech's battle with defending national champion Alabama and Clemson hosting Georgia in Death Valley -- both in prime time. The college football opening weekend concludes with the ACC conference opener, Pittsburgh hosting Florida State on Labor Day under the lights.

Some highlights of the early season ACC schedule include a possible doubleheader on Sept. 7 for Florida-Miami and Oregon-Virginia, along with 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff times for Clemson at NC State (Sept. 19), Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech (Sept. 26) and Georgia Tech at Clemson (Nov. 14).
