Running back Erich Wilson has left Washington and intends to transfer to San Jose State, according to a report on Tuesday from Jimmy Durkin of the San Jose Mercury News.

The San Jose-area native appeared in seven games for the Huskies as a true freshman in 2012. He was the team's third-leading rusher with 145 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries.

It appears that Wilson's decision to return home is not related to football.

According to Durkin, Wilson is also interested in both California and San Jose State, but Washington has not granted him a release to join the Bears.

Wilson's departure shouldn't hurt the Huskies too much -- they return junior Bishop Sankey, who is fresh off a 1,439-yard season.

But he could eventually make a big impact with the Spartans after first sitting out this season. He'll have three years of eligibility remaining after 2013.
