Johnson, who would have been a fifth-year senior for the Huskies this fall, played in 30 games in his career, catching 68 passes for 791 yards and seven touchdowns. His best season came in 2011, when he caught 28 passes for 366 yards and four scores. He did not catch a pass in 2012. He'll remain on scholarship while he completes his degree.
In addition, Sarkisian announced that wide receiver Jamaal Jones, defensive back Darien Washington, tailback Erich Wilson II and linebacker Evan Zeger have all been granted releases from their scholarships.
Zeger and Jones both appeared in three games for the Huskies last fall as redshirt freshmen, while Washington redshirted his freshman season. Wilson finished third on the team in rushing with 145 yards and is likely headed to San Jose State.
