David Perkins, the linebacker who tackled Brutus Buckeye in spring practice, will transfer from Ohio State, Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer confirmed to ElevenWarriors.com on Thursday.

"He's going to move on," Meyer said. "I don't know where. But that's mutual, and I wish him well."

Meyer spoke briefly about Perkins' transfer while at a community service event in Columbus. Perkins appeared in nine games last season as a freshman, mostly on special teams, and recorded six tackles.

"I think anytime you lose someone it's disappointing. But that's business. If he sees himself behind another player that's going to be here for a couple years and someone's guiding him (that's his decision)," Meyer explained. "It's not like it was a nasty break up. We wish him well."

A schools spokesperson confirmed to ElevenWarriors.com that Bowling Green has been ruled out as a possible destination for Perkins. The Falcons were mentioned as a possible landing spot for the sophomore linebacker when rumors of his transfer first surfaced earlier this month.

Perkins' most notable tackle in his brief Ohio State career came during a spring practice stunt with Brutus Buckeye. As part of the football team's Student Appreciation Day, Brutus lined up in the shotgun formation to run a play with the team. After a three-step drop and some quick moves to avoid the pressure, Brutus broke into the open field. That's where he was met by Perkins, who delivered a vicious tackle that freed the ball.
