"He's a big, strong, athletic kid," Rhule told the Philadelphia Enquirer. "We always believe the battles are won in the trenches."
White earned his degree from Maryland, but has one year of eligibility remaining. He is enrolled in graduate courses at Temple, so he plans to spend that one year with the Owls in 2013.
The 6-foot-4, 330-pound offensive lineman left Maryland in February, with the school release citing "personal reasons." White was rated as one of top offensive guards in the 2009 signing class coming out of St. John's High (Washington, D.C.), but he struggled to make an impact under Randy Edsall last season. The redshirt senior appeared in just three games for the Terps in 2012 after playing every game in 2011 and eight games as a redshirt freshman in 2010.
White is the third Maryland player to transfer to another FBS program after the 2012 season, joining defensive lineman Justin Anderson, now at UMass, and Justus Pickett, now a member of Butch Jones' program at Tennessee.
