Ole Miss wide receiver Vince Sanders is expected to sit out six weeks after suffering a broken collarbone in practice on Saturday.

Sanders, the Rebels' second-leading receiver in 2012, suffered the injury when a teammate "brought Sanders to the ground during a one-on-one drill." According to the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, the players were only wearing helmets -- no shoulder pads or other protective equipment. The news of an injury during what appeared to be a non-contact practice was not welcomed by Rebels coach Hugh Freeze.

"That's ruined my whole day, when you see us do a foolish thing," Freeze told the Clarion-Ledger.

Sanders recorded 39 catches for 504 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore last year. He was listed as the starter at the Z-receiver position on the school's most recent depth chart, slated to start opposite Donte Moncrief -- the team's leading receiver a year ago with 979 yards and ten touchdowns.

Senior Ja-Mes Logan, currently listed as the starting H receiver, could move to the outside, opening up a starting spot at the slot receiver position. It is also possible that the shake up could give freshman Laquon Treadwell a chance to contribute early. The five-star wide receiver was the No. 1 player at his position (No. 14 overall) in the 247Sports Composite Rankings for the Class of 2013.

The six week timetable for Sanders' return likely rules him out for the season opener at Vanderbilt and the home opener against Southeast Missouri State. It is possible that he could be back in the lineup for the Rebels' trip to Texas on Sept. 14. If Sanders is unable to return by then, he will have an extra week before Ole Miss travels to Tuscaloosa to face Alabama on Sept. 28.
