Tennessee and Utah State will kick off their 2014 seasons in Neyland Stadium on Aug. 30.

Utah State, the latest addition to the Mountain West conference, announced the news on Friday. The schools were already scheduled to play in 2014, but not until Nov. 8.

"We are pleased with the opportunity to move the Tennessee game to the first week of the 2014 season," Utah State athletic director Scott Barnes said in an official release. "It simply works better in every aspect of our schedule. I appreciate working with Tennessee athletic director Dave Hart to get this done."

Tennessee has not officially confirmed the news, but the expectation is that the Volunteers will reschedule their 2014 matchup with Chattanooga -- a game that was scheduled in 2011.

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Tennessee plans to announce the entire 2014 schedule along with the entire SEC later this year.

Utah State won the last WAC Championship in 2012, then promoted Matt Wells to head coach after Gary Andersen accepted the open job at Wisconsin. The Aggies enter the Mountain West coming off back-to-back bowl appearances, and were picked to finish second in the Mountain Division -- behind Boise State -- in the league's preseason poll.
