PHOTO: North Texas unveils special uniform for 100th anniversary

By Jerry Hinnen | Staff Writer

Even if many of those seasons have gone unnoticed outside the Lone Star State, as of 2013 North Texas has been playing football for 100 years -- and they're going to celebrate in style during their season opener against Idaho.

As part of their program media days Monday, the Mean Green unveiled a special centennial uniform to be worn against the Vandals comprised of elements from different UNT eras -- the jersey dates from the 1960s, with the helmet logo from the '70s and early '80s:

And in case you were wondering if that helmet logo is as awesome as it looks at first glance, the answer is yes:

Listen, Mean Green: I know they're just supposed to be for Week 1, and that you're planning to auction them off after the game. But if you wanted to wear these bad boys all season, I'm pretty sure -- I would hope -- no one will stop you.
