Jackie Williams, the UAB wide receiver dismissed from the program over the weekend, will transfer to UCF and join the Knights in 2014.

Williams led the Blazers with 52 receptions in 2012 and ranked No. 4 in school history with 140 career receptions and 1,733 yards before his dismissal. The 5-foot-11, 190 pound wide receiver will sit out the 2013 season due to NCAA transfer rules.

"This is my first time actually just getting to see the atmosphere because any other time we were on the bus and coming to the stadium," Williams said in an official statement released by UCF. "But I really like the campus setup. I went and took a tour today and I fell in love with the campus. My parents, they liked it too. So it was a win-win."

Since UCF officially joined the American Athletic Conference in July, they no longer in the same conference as UAB and the school granted Williams an unconditional release. If UCF was still a Conference USA member, it would not be surprising to see Blazers coach Garrick McGee prevent the wide receiver from making such a move.

When Williams suits up for UCF in 2014, he will have one year of eligibility remaining and likely compete for a starting spot. The best case scenario for Williams would be for quarterback Blake Bortles to return for a senior season, but if he pursues a professional career after 2013 Missouri transfer Tyler Gabbert will step up under center.
