Alabama cornerback Geno Smith landed in some legal trouble over the weekend. According to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, the sophomore cornerback was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Sunday morning.
The Tuscaloosa News first reported news of the arrest.
"This is obviously not the kind of behavior we expect from our players," Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban said in an official statement. "I don't have all of the details at this point and will handle it appropriately once I've had a chance to review the information."
Smith appeared in 13 games for the Crimson Tide as a freshman in 2012, recording nine tackles and two pass breakups. The Atlanta native was expected to compete for a starting job and see more action at the nickel cornerback position in 2013.
