Nebraska DT Kevin Williams (knee) out for 2013

Nebraska's defensive line received some bad news over the weekend, learning that redshirt sophomore Kevin Williams will miss the entire 2013 season because of a knee injury.

"This is the second time he has had a knee injury. I just feel for the kid," Cornhuskers coach Bo Pelini said. "He'll come back, it was a pretty clean injury. We think he will be able to rehab, and he will be just fine going forward."

Williams' first knee injury resulted in missing all of his true freshman season in 2011. He played in five games last year as a redshirt freshman, recording five tackles. Williams was expected to see more playing time in 2013, with Thad Randle as the only proven player on the interior defensive line.

Nebraska will kick off the 2013 season at home against Wyoming on Aug. 31. It will be the beginning of a year with high expectations, coming off a division title and the program's fifth straight 9+ win season under Pelini. The Cornhuskers were picked to win the Big Ten Legends division by six out of eight experts in our preseason predictions, and enter the season ranked No. 18 in both major preseason polls.
