USC WR Marqise Lee (shoulder) says he is '100 percent'

By Chip Patterson | College Football/Basketball Writer

USC wide receiver Marqise Lee has not been speaking to media since injuring his shoulder in practice, but the Biletnikoff Award winner opened up about the setback on Monday; calling it a scare and nothing more.

"I'm solid, 100 percent back," Lee told reporters on Monday. "[USC coach Lane] Kiffin wanted me to wear the yellow jersey in practice, not me."

The non-contact jersey Lee has been wearing in practice led some to believe that the Trojans' leading receiver suffered a potentially serious shoulder injury on Aug. 9. Lee landed hard on his right shoulder after a defender made contact, and then the junior was quickly escorted away for X-rays.

"I was scared for a moment," Lee told the Los Angeles Times. "But as soon as I got up and got a chance to walk around and feel it, then I realized, 'OK, I'm OK. I'll be all right.'"

Trojans coach Lane Kiffin has not decided on a quarterback for the opener against Hawaii. The competition continues between Cody Kessler and Max Wittek, and Kiffin has hinted that there may not be a final decision before game time.

"Ideally, we would not like to have two quarterbacks on opening day, but you never say never," Kiffin said over the weekend.

The competition has been back-and-forth, but Wittek and Kessler both have an advantage over other quarterbacks in the Pac-12: having Marqise Lee healthy and in the starting lineup.
