Rutgers wide receiver Miles Shuler has played his last game with the Scarlet Knights, and will be transferring. Rutgers coach Kyle Flood announced the news on Friday.

"I just feel like I have a better future at a different school," Shuler told The Star-Ledger. "Don't get me wrong, I love Rutgers, I love the University, I love the team, I went through training camp and they're going to do really well against Fresno State and have a great season this year."

Flood said he and Shuler went over a few different options but "he felt this was something he needed to do. I respect that and I wish him well."

Shuler came to Rutgers as a four-star recruit in its 2011 class -- the last class put together by Greg Schiano -- but things never worked out quite as well as either side hoped they would. Shuler appeared in seven games as a freshman without catching a pass, though he did rush for 42 yards. In 2012 Shuler caught only five passes for 71 yards.

There is no word on where Shuler will transfer to, though he did mention the west coast as a possible destination as he has family in the San Diego area. Shuler also said he was "100 percent I'm going to a BCS school."
