PHOTO: Texas A&M helmet decal to honor Polo Manukainiu

While most of the college football world's attention has been focused on Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M has had to deal with a much more serious off-field issue this summer in the wake of redshirt freshman defensive tackle Polo Manukainiu's death in a July car accident.

Via ESPN reporter Sam Khan Jr., the Aggies will wear a special helmet decal during the 2013 season to honor the memory of the 19-year-old from Euless, Texas, one that includes his name, number, and a design inspired by Manukainiu's Tongan heritage:

The Texas A&M equipment Twitter feed also posted a photo illustrating what the decal will look like affixed to the Aggies' helmet.

UPDATE: Utah freshman defensive end Gaius Vaenuku was also killed in the accident that claimed Manukainiu's life, and the Utes announced in August that they will likewise honor Vaenuku's memory with a special helmet decal designed by a Utes fan specializing in graphic design.
