GIF: Oregon's Terrance Mitchell ejected for vicious hit

By Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer

It's a given that at some point during the 2013 season a player is going to be wrongly ejected from a game for targeting and it's going to have a direct impact on the game. And when that does happen, there will be outrage. Lots and lots of outrage.

However, there will also be plenty of players ejected for all the right reasons, and this hit from Oregon's Terrance Mitchell was certainly one that deserved the ejection.

Mitchell does so much wrong in this hit that the official had no other choice.

It's bad enough that Mitchell is not only bending over and leading with his head to hit Nicholls State quarterback Beaux Hebert, but that he's doing so while Hebert is sliding.

So no matter what you feel about the targeting rule now, or how you might feel about it in the future, if it can help eliminate moments like this from the game in the future than it will be worth it.
