Walk-on Paul James is now Rutgers starting RB

So maybe 2013 is going to be the year of the little guy?

We already saw FCS upsets galore on opening weekend, and we also saw a true freshman walk-on quarterback start for Texas Tech and throw for 413 yards and account for five touchdowns. Now we find out that Rutgers' new starting running back is also a walk-on.

Rutgers released its latest depth chart on Monday and, lo and behold, it's walk-on sophomore Paul James listed as the starting running back. Behind him on the depth chart is former five-star recruit Savon Huggins, who started against Fresno State and was expected to be Rutgers' starter this season.

Though James' performance in Rutgers' loss to Fresno State put an end to that.

James carried the ball 22 times for 182 yards on Thursday night while Huggins managed only 15 yards on six carries. Prior to Thursday James had only appeared in two games for the Knights, getting five carries for 22 yards.

Rutgers hosts Norfolk State on Saturday.
