Jeremy Hill has officially returned to the field of play for LSU.

The Tigers' much-discussed sophomore running back scored on his first carry of the season, a three-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to put LSU up 28-0 over UAB in the Tigers' 2013 home opener.

Hill dressed but did not play in LSU's season opener vs. TCU the previous Saturday, suspended as a result of his April arrest on simple battery charges. Les Miles had been evasive on the length of Hill's suspension, or even that he had been suspended, only saying that Hill's punishment would be "internal."

Multiple reports Friday, including CBSSports.com's, stated that Hill was highly likely to return from suspension against the Blazers.

Hill's status has been the topic of heated speculation for months. A judge's ruling in early August that Hill had not violated the terms of his previous probation kept Hill out of jail, paving the way for his reinstatement to the team after a team vote.

Hill was LSU's leading rusher as a freshman in 2012 with 755 yards and 12 touchdowns.
