Is Michigan and Notre Dame a national rivalry? That depends on whom you ask, but what we know for sure is that it's a popular rivalry.

Michigan announced that the attendance for tonight's game between Wolverines and Fighting Irish was 115,109. Which would make it the largest crowd in college football history.

The previous record? That would be 114,804 which was set in September 2011. Which, not coincidentally, is the last time Michigan hosted Notre Dame at Michigan Stadium.

Which means that Michigan has now hosted two games against Notre Dame with larger crowds than a Ohio State game. The largest crowd for that rivalry occurred in on November 26, 2011 when 114,132 people watched Michigan knock off the hated Buckeyes 40-34.

If you're looking to place a bet on when this record will be broken again the Buckeyes come to Ann Arbor on November 30.
