Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville has confirmed what we pretty much knew the moment we saw quarterback Munchie Legaux suffer a leg injury on Saturday against Illinois.

Legaux's season is over thanks to a severe injury to his left knee.

Legaux's leg bent awkwardly after he was hit by two Illini defenders simultaneously and he immediately went down in pain clutching his left knee. He would eventually be placed in an air cast and carted off the field.

As for Cincinnati will go from here, Brendon Kay once again becomes the Bearcats starter with redshirt freshman Bennie Coney moving up the depth chart to backup. Tuberville made it sound like Coney could see some time on the field as well.

"If you remember last spring, Bennie Coney probably had the most improvement of anybody in spring practice," Tuberville told reporters Sunday. "He just didn't have the experience. We'll take his talents and put them to use. He knows the offense."

Kay has not started either of Cincinnati's two games this season, but he has seen some playing time, completing 10 of 16 passes for 130 yards. In 2012 Kay took over the starting job from Legaux and threw for 1,298 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions.
