One of Ole Miss's most experienced defenders could have a long road back to the starting lineup after an early Sunday morning arrest.

According to the Tupelo, Miss. Daily Journal and other outlets, senior cornerback Charles Sawyer was pulled over by university police at 2 a.m. Sunday. He was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Hugh Freeze has not yet commented on the situation, and Sawyer's status for the Rebels' trip to Texas this Saturday is to-be-determined. Freeze is expected to address the situation in his Tuesday press conference, per the Associated Press.

Sawyer had started all 23 games for Ole Miss over the 2011 and 2012 seasons and was projected to help anchor the Rebel secondary once again in 2013. But he struggled with a shoulder injury during fall camp, played sparingly in the Rebels' Week 1 win over Vanderbilt, and was rested during the Rebels' 31-13 win Saturday over FCS Southeast Missouri State.

Per the Clarion-Ledger, the current Ole Miss depth chart has Sawyer on the second-string, behind sophomore corner Mike Hilton.
