Let's walk through a brief timeline of this week's events following USC's stunning 10-7 loss to Washington State last Saturday.

Sunday morning: per All-American wide receiver Marqise Lee, the Trojans plan to come together for a players-only meeting to discuss "the things we can improve on as a team without the coaches there."

Sunday evening: Lane Kiffin meets with press, says there had been no such meeting.

Tuesday evening: Lee tells the Los Angeles Daily News that yes, there was a players-only meeting.

"Kiffin don't know," Lee said. "Players [only]. Players. Kiffin don't know nothing about it. No coaches. We did have that meeting."

"Now [Kiffin] knows."

Early Wednesday morning: Senior defensive end Devon Kennard tweets what might be interpreted as support for his embattled head coach:

Later Wednesday morning: Lee takes to Twitter himself to clarify the situation:

USC fans will certainly hope that Kennard is correct, and that the Trojans are all back on the same page, and on the same page as Kiffin and the Trojan staff.

But whatever the nature of the "meeting" or "get together," you're still looking at a team whose star player is willing to publicly contradict his head coach, a team where two players are willing to offer seemingly different public accounts -- and likely a team that still has much, much room for improvement in the area of team unity.
