Report: T.J. Yeldon to miss first quarter over throat-slash penalty

The Anniston Star has reported that T.J. Yeldon's unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against Texas A&M will cost the Alabama running back a one-quarter suspension for Saturday's game vs. Colorado State.

The Star cited a "source close to the situation" which claimed the sophomore would sit out the first 15 minutes vs. the Rams, who will come to Tuscaloosa as 39-point underdogs.

Yeldon was flagged for mimicking Johnny Manziel's (and Aggie president R. Bown Loftin's) "money" gesture and following it up with a double throat-slash. He apologized for the gesture Monday.

"I want to apologize to everyone for my selfish actions on Saturday," Yeldon said in a statement. "That is not the way I want to represent myself, my family and our team.

"That is not the way we do things at Alabama. This is something that I will learn from, and I will use better judgment in the future."

Nick Saban was publicly unhappy with Yeldon's decision, saying "that's not our program" and "that's not what we do" afterwards, and still showing visible frustration during his Thursday night press appearance.

Will the Tide miss Yeldon? With Kenyan Drake, Jalston Fowler, and plenty of blue-chip freshmen on hand, only if Saban's concerned with covering the spread. (He's not concerned.)
