The news came straight from the horse's Twitter mouth, so to speak:
That's right: Tennessee and Butch Jones will start redshirt freshman quarterback Nathan Peterman Saturday at Florida (on CBS, 3:30 ET) in his first collegiate start. Peterman replaces Justin Worley, who hit 13-of-25 for just 126 yards at Oregon last week.
A three-star recruit from Jacksonville, Fla. in the class of 2012, Peterman has attempted 12 passes in his Tennessee career, going 4-for-8 in the vols' season-opening win vs. FCS Austin Peay and 2-for-4 vs. the Ducks.
Jones said after the Oregon game that he was re-opening the Vols' quarterback competition, suggesting a move was imminent. Still: asking Peterman to make his first career start against the nation's 12th-ranked pass effifciency defense -- and on the road in one of college football's most hostile venues -- is a bold, bold move on the first-year Vol head coach's part.
