A rocky start to Florida's offensive season got even rockier on its second drive of Saturday's SEC on CBS game vs. Tennessee, when Jeff Driskel was lost for the season with an ankle injury.

With the ball near midfield, Jeff Driskel was hit as he threw, serving up an easy pick-six for Tennessee corner Devaun Swafford and putting the Gators in a 7-0 hole. But the insult to that injury might proved been even more serious than that -- Driskel immediately grabbed his ankle and gestured for the trainers.

Will Muschamp told CBS reporter Tracy Wolfson immediately following the game that the ankle would require surgery, and that Driskel would be out for the season. Muschamp said Murphy would remain the starter.

AP reporter Mark Long reported after the game that Driskel had suffered a broken fibula.

Driskel was replaced by Tyler Murphy, a redshirt sophomore who had yet to attempt a pass in a college game. Murphy impressed, however, hitting 8-of-14 for 134 yards, rushing for an additional 84 yards, and scoring a pair of touchdowns. Led by Murphy, Florida pulled away for a 31-17 victory.
