Mark Richt is giving LSU QB Zach Mettenberger's mother the week off

The biggest game in college football this week is the matchup between Georgia and LSU, and Tammy Mettenberger is going to have the whole week off to get ready for it.

Mettenberger is the mother of LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger and she also happens to be an administrative assistant at Georgia. So Georgia coach Mark Richt has decided she should just take the week off.

"She loves her son, obviously, and it would be awkward for her to be hanging around all week," Richt told the Ledger-Enquirer. "I told her, 'Enjoy it, go have fun, do some things you wouldn't normally do this time of year and enjoy it.'"

Of course, Zach Mettenberger was originally a Georgia Bulldog himself, but he was dismissed from the program three years ago for disciplinary reasons. He then spent a season at a junior college before transferring to LSU and becoming its starting quarterback.

Which begs the question: Is there any other conference in the country in which the mother of a player who was kicked off the team would continue working at the school?
