The school announced on Wednesday that Awini is "no longer a cadet in good standing and is not allowed to represent the Academy in outside activities."
Football is included in those "outside activities."
Which means that sophomore quarterback Karson Roberts will likely start for Air Force on the road against Nevada this weekend. Roberts would be the third quarterback Air Force has had to turn to this season, as Awini replaced Kale Pearson after an ACL injury ended his season.
Awini completed 21 of his 42 passes for Air Force this season, throwing for 275 yards, no touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns in Air Force's option attack.
As for Roberts, he has appeared in the last three games for the Falcons this season. He's rushed for 14 yards on four carries, but he's also thrown for 85 yards and two touchdowns in limited chances.
