The non-conference series between LSU and Wisconsin already has one NFL stadium booked, with the teams scheduled to kick off the 2014 season in Houston's Reliant Stadium. The University of Wisconsin Board of Regents met Thursday to discuss the details of a 2016 meeting at Lambeau Field, and an approval of the contract made things official Friday.

The Green Bay Packers issued a statement making the game official after weeks of discussion:

"We're honored to be able to host two storied college football programs at Lambeau Field,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. “It will be an exciting weekend for football fans at our historic stadium. The Green Bay community will serve as an excellent host and we all look forward to seeing fans from both teams that weekend.

“I'd especially like to thank [Wisconsin athletic director] Barry Alvarez and [LSU AD] Joe Alleva. It's been a pleasure to reconnect with them to put this game together."

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that the Packers have agreed to pay Wisconsin $3 million for the Sept. 3, 2016 game. In return, the Packers will get to keep the game revenue -- which should include a sold-out ticket allotment considering the Badgers have never played a football game at Lambeau Field.

Other details on the contract, per the Journal-Sentinel, two complimentary 24-person suites and a minimum of 40,000 tickets for the school, 7,500 of which will be made available for students at discounted prices.

The game will be just the fourth-ever college game played at the famous stadium and the first since 1983. The first three all featured nearby St. Norbert College, the Division III school which has hosted the Packers' training camp since 1958.
