Ole Miss team members and supporters -- as well as any college football fan who was watching the second half of the Rebels' heartbreaker of a defeat to Texas A&M Saturday night -- will be happy to hear that Hugh Freeze is optimistic on the status of linebacker Serderius Bryant.

Bryant suffered an apparent head injury late in the fourth quarter in a frightening collision with Aggie superstar Johnny Manziel. Bryant's head and neck area collided with Manziel in a tackle attempt, and Bryant remained on the field for several minutes before being immobilized and carted off the field. He gave the Ole Miss crowd a double thumbs-up signal on his way off the field, and was eventually taken to a local hospital for an overnight stay.

Freeze sent the Clarion-Ledger a text message Sunday that said "things look good" for Bryant after initial tests, with the paper writing that "early indications" are that the junior has suffered a concussion.

A native of Sanford, Fla., Bryant's 55 tackles lead the Rebels and rank him third in the SEC (in one fewer game than the top two). He had collected 12 tackles before leaving the game against the Aggies.

Ole Miss faces new No. 6 LSU at home in Oxford Saturday.
