Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees, initially listed as day-to-day with a neck injury, has been cleared to practice and is expected to play when the Fighting Irish travel to face Air Force on Saturday.
At Tuesday's media availability, Irish coach Brian Kelly said Rees will play because he was cleared to practice early in the week. However, backup quarterbacks Andrew Hendrix and Malik Zaire will be getting more reps in practice as a precaution.
Notre Dame's offense failed to score against USC after Rees left the game in the third quarter of Saturday's 14-10 win, but luckily the Trojans offense were scoreless in the second half as well.
Backup quarterback Andrew Hendrix failed to complete any of his four attempts, spending most of the second half either running or handing off to Cam McDaniel or George Atkinson. The ground-heavy attack did help the Irish burn clock, but every Hendrix-led drive ended in a punt except for one; which was a fumble.
Notre Dame can become bowl eligible with a win against Air Force on Saturday. The game, scheduled for a 5 p.m. ET kickoff, will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
