Things were looking bleak for Nebraska on Saturday. Late in the fourth quarter of a 21-21 game Northwestern picked off a pass and returned it to the Nebraska eight-yard line. The Wildcats would then bleed as much clock as possible before settling for a field goal and a 24-21 lead.
But then Nebraska would move the ball to midfield with enough time left to run one play. And that's when backup quarterback Ron Kellogg got his Doug Flutie on.
And just like that, what had been a very rough week for the Pelini family got a lot brighter.
Jordan Westerkamp caught the ball off a deflection for his first career touchdown grab, and it was a touchdown catch that just might save the Nebraska season. And on the flip side, it could end up being a touchdown catch that keeps Northwestern out of a bowl game this season.
