Cal RB Fabiano Hale hospitalized after locker room fight

By Chip Patterson | College Football/Basketball Writer

Cal freshman running back Fabiano Hale was taken to the hospital after a locker-room fight with a teammate last week, university police told the San Francisco Chronicle on Monday.

According to authorities, Hale was injured during a "one-on-one" altercation with a teammate. The name of the teammate was not released, but police indicated that a suspect has been identified.

Head coach Sonny Dykes declined to comment on the issue Monday, and university police had no further details regarding whether or not charges might be filed.

Cal's 2013 season has not unfolded the way the first-year Golden Bears coach planned. The team is already ineligible for the postseason at 1-8 and the losing streak in conference play has extended to 11 games.

Cal hosts USC on Saturday afternoon in a game scheduled for a 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT kickoff.
