Dan Mullen said Monday that Prescott is "questionable" for Saturday's contest with the top-ranked Tide, and Tyler Russell is listed as the starting quarterback on the depth chart for this week. Prescott suffered the elbow injury in the fourth quarter of Mississippi State's 51-41 loss to Texas A&M and did not return to the game.
Prescott and Tyler Russell have shared the quarterback duties for the Bulldogs this season, partly a result of Russell suffering a concussion in the season-opener. The senior quarterback missed three games while Prescott ran the offense, and Mullen has used both players since Russell's return.
Prescott did not start last Saturday, but found success, as many do, against the Aggies defense; throwing for 149 yards and two touchdowns while adding 154 yards on the ground. On the season, Prescott leads all quarterbacks and ranks third in the SEC with 12 touchdowns scored on the season. He is also one of two SEC quarterbacks to lead his team in both rushing and passing (the other being Johnny Manziel).
Russell started the annual meeting against Alabama in 2011 and 2012; losing 24-7 and 38-7, respectively, to the eventual BCS champions.
