On Tuesday, Gators offensive coordinator Brent Pease told reporters that starting quarterback Tyler Murphy is "day-to-day" with a shoulder injury. Murphy has dealt with a shoulder issue throughout the season, but Pease indicated that the quarterback needs to get some practice time this week in order to play against the Gamecocks.
Gators OC Pease on whether QB Tyler Murphy will play: "I think it's day to day based on what the training room has to say."— Mark Long (@APMarkLong) November 12, 2013
If Murphy is unable to play against South Carolina, redshirt freshman Skyler Mornhinweg is the next man up, and last scholarship quarterback available, on the depth chart.
This is just the latest in a long string of injury-related bad news for the Gators, who have lost 10 players to season-ending injuries (seven starters) after Monday's announcement regarding the end of Antonio Morrison's season. In total, more than two dozen Florida players have missed time in 2013 due to injuries.
