We don't know who the next coach will be at Southern California. What we do know is that there won't be a shortage of coaches willing to listen should the Trojans come calling. Especially given what the school is reportedly willing to pay.
“This hire means that much to them,” a source told Haney. “There's only one USC. I talk to a lot of people who have worked there and they say it's the best place they've ever coached.”
I'd want to coach at USC for $6 million a year too. All you have to do is call me, USC.
As for whom it will be that finds themselves on the receiving end of those checks next season, it's important to remember that Ed Orgeron has done a good job at the helm since taking over for Lane Kiffin, and he shouldn't be dismissed as a legit possibility.
Still, the name that comes up often these days is Texas A&M's Kevin Sumlin, while others like Jack Del Rio and Vanderbilt's James Franklin have been mentioned as well.
Odds are a lot more names will be mentioned before USC names its new coach, which it hopes to do in December.
