Miami, Cincinnati agree to home-and-home for 2014-15

By Chip Patterson | College Football/Basketball Writer

Miami and Cincinnati announced non-conference dates for 2014 and 2015 on Tuesday, with the first meeting since 1998 scheduled for next season in Sun Life Stadium.

The Hurricanes will make the return trip in the 2015 season, with the game currently scheduled to take place in Nippert Stadium.

Cincinnati coach Tommy Tuberville was a Miami assistant coach from 1986-93, and he told the Cincinnati Enquirer that the Bearcats are looking forward to opportunity of playing host to a major-conference opponent.

"I think it's a great series," Tuberville said. "It's very difficult to get anybody to play you here. These so-called big-time teams, they tuck their head and run. … I want to thank (Miami) for doing that, because they didn't have to do that. It'll be tough for us down there next year and it'll be tough for them when they come here."

Tuberville's ties to Miami make the series interesting, but he did not play a direct role in the agreement -- Bearcats fans can thank Cincinnati athletic director Whit Babcock for that.

"We're obviously thrilled with the matchup," Babcock said via The Enquirer. "It should help both schools from a strength of schedule standpoint as the new playoff structure begins next season. The games will be on TV of course, and are great for recruiting."

Both teams are still alive in their respective conference title races, though Miami and Cincinnati need help to avoid elimination from contention. For more, check out the Conference Title Race Reset.
