Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon will seek input from the NFL Draft Advisory Board before making a decision regarding his return for the 2014 season.

As a third-year sophomore, Gordon is eligible to declare for the draft. After leading the Badgers with 1,466 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, coach Gary Andersen supported Gordon's decision to reach out for opinions but believes the running back could benefit from another year at Wisconsin.

Gordon explained his mindset after practice Tuesday, via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

According to Gordon, his father has advised him to return to UW. His mother offered the same advice initially but now wants him to explore leaving early.

"People are getting in her ear," Gordon said, "agents. But at the end of the day she said: 'It is whatever you want.'"

Gordon couldn't say whether he will leave UW early if he receives a specific grade from the advisory board.

"I don't know," he said, acknowledging that a third-round grade or lower would lead him to return to UW. "Emotions might run high when I see it."

Gordon ran for at least 100 yards in six of Wisconsin's first seven games, but his production dipped near the end of the season as senior James White saw more action in the second half of the season.

Wisconsin will play South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1. The deadline for draft-eligible underclassmen to declare for the 2014 draft is Jan. 15.
