Report: Michigan State's Narduzzi turns down UConn job

By Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer

If Pat Narduzzi leaves Michigan State this winter, it looks like it won't be to go to Connecticut.

According to a report from FootballScoop.com, the Michigan State defensive coordinator has turned down the UConn job. Here's what FootballScoop.com had to say.

Sources tell us that after meeting with UConn athletic director Warde Manuel this morning Pat Narduzzi has turned down the opportunity to become UConn's next head coach.

Narduzzi was just named the recipient of the Broyles Award this week, which is given to the top coordinator in college football. Narduzzi helped mold the best defense in the nation statistically this season, and he's been at Michigan State since 2007.

If the report is true and Narduzzi has turned down UConn, the question becomes why. It could just be that he didn't see UConn as a fit, but it could also be that he's waiting for a Big Ten job to open.

As for where UConn turns from here, Virginia Tech's Bud Foster, Ball State's Pete Lembo and UCLA's Noel Mazzone have all been reported to be candidates for the job as well.
