Everett Golson is officially back at Notre Dame.

While it has been rumored for a while and it seemed nothing more than a formality, Notre Dame announced on Friday that quarterback Everett Golson has been readmitted to the school. Which means that Golson, who helped lead the Irish to a 12-1 record and a berth in the BCS title game in 2012, will be back with the Irish next fall.

It was originally announced in May 2013 that Golson was no longer enrolled at the school due to an academic violation. After his dismissal became public, Golson didn't waste any time in informing the world that he fully intended to re-enroll at Notre Dame for the 2014 spring semester.

And now he has done just that.

Which is good news for both Golson and Brian Kelly. Notre Dame has lost both its offensive and defensive coordinators to head coaching jobs, so getting Golson back and adding to the team's quarterback depth is a nice boost.

Golson finished the 2012 season with 2,703 total yards and 18 total touchdowns. He was also one of the few Irish players to perform well against Alabama in the BCS title game, throwing for 270 yards and a touchdown in the 42-14 loss.
