Tim Tebow will join ESPN as a college football analyst for the SEC Network, working primarily for SEC Nation, a traveling pregame show beginning Aug. 28, 2014.

Tebow will make his debut as an ESPN analyst during the coverage of the BCS National Championship between Florida State and Auburn next week. According to a ESN release he will contribute to Sportscenter, College Football Live and the pregame coverage from Pasadena.

Check out more details below, via ESPN:

Through a multi-year agreement, Tebow's primary role will be as an analyst for SEC Nation, the network's traveling pregame show that will originate from a different SEC campus each week beginning August 28, 2014. In the months leading up to launch and after, he will contribute to a variety of ESPN platforms including SportsCenter, ESPN Radio, and the network's Heisman Trophy coverage, offering in-depth perspective as a legendary Southeastern Conference player.

Tebow joins ESPN analyst Joe Tessitore as the first commentators hired for SEC Nation. The pregame show will debut Thursday, Aug. 28 on the SEC Network from Columbia, S.C. before Texas A&M-South Carolina opens the 2014 regular season.

"I am so excited that ESPN has given me this incredible opportunity," said Tebow. "When I was six years old I fell in love with the game of football, and while I continue to pursue my dream of playing quarterback in the NFL, this is an amazing opportunity to be part of the unparalleled passion of college football and the SEC."

According to ESPN, Tebow's role with ESPN "will not preclude him from continuing to pursue playing opportunities in the NFL." Darren Rovell reported that Tebow has a three-year contract with the company.

So that door has not been shut quite yet. At least not officially.
