Virginia Tech quarterback Logan Thomas was knocked out of the Sun Bowl after taking a hard hit from UCLA linebacker Jordan Zumwalt.

Zumwalt was not flagged for targeting on the play, but the officials did penalize him for unnecessary roughness. Thomas was examined by the training staff on sideline during the second quarter, and after halftime his return was still questionable.

Via Andy Bitter, of the Virginian-Pilot, it appears that Thomas' day was ended in the middle of the third quarter.

Redshirt junior quarterback Mark Leal, Thomas' listed backup, has taken over the Hokies' offense. You can watch the rest of the Sun Bowl LIVE on CBSSports.com by clicking here.
