Georgia Tech quarterback Vad Lee plans to transfer, according to multiple reports.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and other outlets, reported that the redshirt sophomore will leave Atlanta after leading the Yellow Jackets to a 7-6 finish in 2013. ESPN's Joe Schad indicated that Lee, the first-year starter, was not a fan of Paul Johnson's option-based offense.
GT QB Vad Lee said he will transfer. "The triple option was never really my thing," Lee said.— Joe Schad (@schadjoe) January 3, 2014
Lee completed just 45.6 percent of his passes, throwing for 1,561 yards, 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Georgia Tech's offense averaged 6.10 yards per play with him calling the shots in the option attack; good for fourth in the ACC.
If Lee does transfer, he will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. The Durham, N.C. native was a three-star prospect coming out of high school, choosing the Yellow Jackets over several ACC schools.
