The names you would expect to be on Penn State's early list of candidates for their vacant head coaching position are, in fact, reportedly on Penn State's early list of candidates for their vacant head coaching position.
ESPN reported Friday that Miami's Al Golden, Vanderbilt's James Franklin and the Tennessee Titans' Mike Munchak "top the list" of Nittany Lion targets. However, none of them have yet actually met with Penn State officials, the report said.
Golden and Munchak are both Penn State alums, while Franklin is a native of Langhorne, Pennsylvania.
Reports circulated Friday that Golden had already been offered the job, but reporter David Jones of the Patriot-News stated that wasn't the case:

The Tennessean reported Friday that Munchak is expected to be retained by the Titans for the 2014 season despite the team's 7-9 finish this past season. Munchak was set to meet with Titans brass Friday.
