While James Franklin was in Happy Valley getting the lay of the land at his new job on Saturday, those at his old job were back in Nashville getting to work on finding his replacement.

Vanderbilt athletic director David Williams told The Tennesseean that 20 to 25 people have already expressed interest in the job Franklin left vacant. Williams said you "always have a plan in place if something happens" though he doesn't have a set time table on finding Franklin's replacement.

“If something were to fall out the sky, I could tell you," said Williams. "I don't know. We'll move as quickly as we can.”

CBSSports.com's Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday that Vanderbilt offensive line coach Herb Hand and Stanford defensive coordinator Derek Mason are two candidates for the job.

While Williams was working on finding his new coach, Vandy fans gathered to support players at an early morning meeting in which both Williams and Franklin talked to the team. One of those players was quarterback Patton Robinette, who said that although it hurts to see Franklin leave, he still appreciates what Franklin did for the school.

“It's a business. College football is a business," said Robinette. "He's going to do what's best for his family.

“This is a big job now. This is a big-time job. Whoever is going to get the chance to come in here and be our head coach is going to walk into a great situation."
