Report: Nick Saban meets with Florida State's Jacob Coker

By Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer

It's looking more likely that Jacob Coker could find himself in the familiar position of replacing AJ McCarron again.

AL.com reports that Nick Saban had an in-home visit with Florida State quarterback Jacob Coker on Tuesday, and Coker's high school coach, Steve Mask, says an official visit to Alabama could be in the "near future." Coker is looking to transfer from Florida State -- Jameis Winston will do that to you -- and his coach says he's been released from his scholarship at Florida State.

Coker is a redshirt sophomore at FSU, but since he is currently on schedule to graduate in May he would not be required to sit out a season after transferring. He has two years of eligibility remaining.

If Coker does transfer to Alabama, it won't be the first time he'll find himself taking over a position once held by AJ McCarron. Both quarterbacks played their high school ball at St. Paul's in Mobile, Alabama.

Coker appeared in six games for the Seminoles in 2013, completing 18 of his 36 passes for 250 yards, no touchdowns and an interception.
