Florida A&M pulls recruit's offer night before signing day

By Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer

David Montas is an offensive lineman from Hialeah High School in Florida. Over the summer he committed to Florida A&M and completely shut down his recruitment, even though other schools showed interest. Montas was done. He was going to Florida A&M, he had made his commitment.

Unfortunately for Montas, FAMU didn't honor their end.

Here's a tweet from Montas' high school coach, sent out on Tuesday night, the night before signing day.

As for why the school pulled Montas' offer, he says he was told it was his test scores, though that goes against what they'd been telling him.

"It hurts because they were telling me I was good (academically)," Montas told "If I wasn't good, they were leading me on. They should have seen this coming.

"A lot of schools came in with interest but were concerned with my test scores and I respect that. But they told me up front."

According to Berman, Montas' test scores had nothing to do with it. He says FAMU had "too many offers."

"In 30 years of coaching, this is the first time I have ever seen this," Berman said.
"This university will not be allowed to come into my school and recruit, and I am going to send out an email to other (area) schools. Hopefully, they will join me in not letting them come in and recruit."
