Michigan tight end Jake Butt is out indefinitely after suffering a torn ACL.

The school announced in a release Thursday morning that Butt had suffered the injury during winter conditioning.

"Jake's done a tremendous job since he's been here," said Brady Hoke in the release. "He's worked extremely hard and gained a lot of weight to become the complete tight end he wants to be. I think he showed flashes of that towards the end of last season. This is a tough break, but because of his work ethic and attitude, the kind of young man he is, we know he will be back as soon as he can and as strong as ever."

Butt finished his freshman season in Ann Arbor with 20 catches for 235 yards and two touchdowns. As Hoke mentioned in the statement, he had a strong finish to the season, as Butt had 13 receptions for 168 yards and two scores in Michigan's final five games of the season.
