Dabo Swinney announced Tuesday that defensive end Corey Crawford, offensive lineman David Beasley, defensive back Garry Peters and offensive lineman Shaq Anthony will miss the first game of 2014.
"I am disappointed to announce that these young men will miss the 2014 opener at Georgia," Swinney said in a statement. "A huge part of our program is teaching accountability, responsibility and that there are consequences for your actions. These are four good young men, but they broke a team rule and as a result, they will each miss a game. I am hopeful that they will learn and grow from this and have a great 2014 season on and off the field."
Crawford started 12 games at defensive end for the Tigers last season, recording to 10.5 tackles for loss and three sacks. On the offensive line, Beasley started seven games at left guard and Shaq Anthony started three games at right tackle. Needless to say, these are big losses for Clemson heading into a high-profile rematch of last season's 38-35 win on the first Saturday of college football.
