FSU Five-star RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) to miss spring practice

By Chip Patterson | Staff Writer

Florida State running back Dalvin Cook will miss spring practice after suffering a torn labrum in the Seminoles' weight room this offseason.

Cook, a five-star early enrollee from the 2014 recruiting class, chose the Seminoles over his hometown Miami Hurricanes and many believe he could make an immediate impact on FSU's offense. Karlos Williams is the apparent No. 1 running back on the depth chart, but Cook is expected to compete with Mario Pender and Ryan Green for backup snaps in 2014.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Cook fell up a set of stairs in the team's weight room and injured his shoulder when he put his hand out to brace the fall.

"He had a tremendous offseason, he acted like he'd been there for three years," Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said of Cook. "It's a shame, but he'll get to be in every meeting. That way he can have the surgery now and will have over three months of rehab and will be full go in the fall."

Florida State kicks off spring practice on Wednesday.
